HOLLER FEST

HOLLER Fest is a yearly festival championing the contributions of female and gender non-conforming people in the local Naarm/Melbourne music industry. It is a joint passion project between Ebony Rattle and Chloe Morgan (Soft Butch Media), who became friends at Girls Rock!/Amplify Melbourne.

The first iteration of the festival in 2019 in the Reverence Hotel Melbourne sold out and raised much-needed funds for Girls Rock! Melbourne, providing scholarships for campers to be able to attend the camp.

HOLLER Fest is a direct response to the inequality that women and gender diverse people face in the music industry. The instagram account @lineupswithoutmales demonstrates that in the Australian music festival circuit, there is a lack of gender diversity and that often female and gender diverse people rarely get opportunities to play in large festival environments. We are hoping that this festival can be a catalyst for change, and are looking forward to continuing this new staple of the Australian music landscape long into the future.

The second iteration, after a long hiatus due to the the impacts of the pandemic, occurred in August 2022 at Hotel Westwood in Footscray. This iteration of the festival raised funds for the Dhadjowa Foundation and Abortion Funds, while also supporting local female and gender non-conforming musicians to play in a festival setting and be paid appropriately.
